Planning & Use Guide
Under the Town and Country Planning (Use Classes) Order 1987, and the subsequent amendments in 1995 and 2006, the lawful planning use that may be carried out a property is defined under the following headings.

Special Industrial GroupsNote: these classes from the 1997 order were rolled up into class B2 by the Use Classes (Amendment) Order 1995. |

Storage or DistributionThis class includes open air storage. |

HotelsHotels, boarding houses and guest houses. |

Residential InstitutionsResidential care homes, hospitals, nursing homes, boarding schools, residential colleges and training centres. |

Secure Residential InstitutionsHospitals, nursing homes, convalescent care centres. |

Dwelling HousesDwellings or houses occupied by up to 6 people (living together as a household), small businesses at home, households providing care for residents. |

Non Residential InstitutionsChurch halls, places of worship, clinics, health centres, consulting rooms, day nurseries, schools, art galleries, museums, libraries. |

Assembly and LeisureCinemas, music/concert halls, bingo and dance halls (not night clubs), swimming pools, skating rinks, gyms, sports arenas (except motor racing or involving use of firearms). |

Sui GenerisTheatres, hostels (where no significant care is provided), scrap yards, petrol stations, car showrooms/shops, launderettes, amusement centres, nightclubs, casinos, minicab/taxi businesses. |
